Garrett and Amber are lifelong adventurers with a deep love for the outdoors. They met and married in Idaho before setting their sights on Montana—drawn by its wild landscapes, endless adventures, and blue-collar opportunities.
Garrett
Garrett has always felt most at home in the wild. As a former wildland firefighter, he’s seen firsthand the power and beauty of nature. Now, he’s trading fire gear for electrical tools. A lifelong competitor from his hockey-playing days, he brings that same grit and determination into everything he does—whether it’s mastering a new skill, exploring the backcountry, or planning the next great adventure.
Beyond his love for the outdoors, Garrett is a hockey enthusiast, a numbers guy, and a devoted husband. He believes in faith, family, and standing up for what matters. He credits God and the people closest to him for shaping the man he is becoming—the man he knows he’s called to be. With every challenge, every journey, and every new chapter, he’s working toward the best future for his family, embracing life with passion and purpose.
Amber
Amber is a Native Hawaiian who grew up surrounded by the land and ocean, where she learned the importance of respect—for nature, for people, and for the stories that shape us.
She is the founder and CEO of Nalu Marketing Strategies—‘nalu’ meaning ‘wave’ in Hawaiian—a reflection of her belief in adaptability, flow, and the power of stories to move people. Her work is deeply rooted in her values and upbringing, whether she’s helping brands build authentic connections or writing books that inspire young adventurers.
Her debut children’s book, Adventures Under the Big Sky, introduces young readers to Montana’s wildlife and the importance of respecting nature—values that reflect her own childhood. She hopes to expand her works in the future, continuing to share meaningful stories that honor nature’s landscapes and the spirit of aloha.
Together, they created Wandering the Big Sky to document their travels, share their favorite places, and encourage others to experience the outdoors the right way—through exploration, appreciation, and a deep respect for the land. Whether it’s a backcountry trail, a hidden local gem, or just a great meal after a long day outside, Garrett and Amber want to bring others along for the adventure.
